Greetings! For those of you who have been subscribed to One Percent Better for a while, you’ll know that every so often, I do a (somewhat random) "recommendations post". This is one of those posts.
Here are some of the things I have been loving in the last month:
How to make learning SUPER fun
Do you have something you need to learn, but have been putting off? Maybe it's a research report you've been meaning to read, or some sales collateral you need to get across.
I recommend that you try Google Notebook.
Upload the document you need to learn and the software will give you different options to summarise or ask questions of the content (useful - but not particularly unique)... But what makes Google Notebook really different from anything I have seen is there is also the option to "Generate a Deep Dive" conversation. This function turns your (potentially dull) report/article/document into a lively conversation between two American hosts, making it feel like a fun podcast conversation (and who doesn't get joy from listening to an engaging chat?).
An easy way to remember things you learn in podcasts
I am forever listening to podcasts and wishing I had a notepad and pen nearby to write down gems that I learn. My workaround has been pausing the podcast and asking Siri to remind me of the lesson when I am back at my computer - which is annoying - because of all the stopping and starting of an interview.
I recently discovered Snipd, which has legitimately changed my life (or at least the part of my life where I listen to podcasts). With a simple tap of your headphones, you can save any moment in any podcast episode with an AI-generated transcript, summary and title. So good.
Why not give someone else a gift on your birthday?
I attended the most beautiful birthday dinner of a close friend of mine on the weekend. It was a gathering of nine amazing women and the night of connection felt like a gift. Which is why I loved this article by Dan Pink about challenging the assumption that birthdays are about receiving gifts - but perhaps, after reading this article, you might give people a gift on your birthday instead.
Got a recommendation for me? I love hearing from readers. Reply to this email because guess what: There is a human (me) who reads every response.
